ABOUT

Open to the public since 1991 within the World Heritage Site of Greenwich, The Fan Museum is the only organisation of its kind devoted entirely to the history, culture and craft of the fan. Most of the museum is devoted to a permanent exhibition of fans through the ages, from the flat vellum rectangles of the Middle Ages through ornate folding fans from the 18th and 19th centuries to a cabinet of desk fans. Along with the museum, there is an orangery decorated with murals, a Japanese-style garden with a fan-shaped parterre, a pond, and a stream.
