ABOUT
The Clink Prison museum is a hidden gem of an attraction in London. Although it may be small and cramped at times, it does not take from the unforgettable experience. Dating back to 1144, The Clink was the most notorious medieval prison in London and is today the oldest prison in Britain. With a rich and gruesome history of over 600 years, The Clink witnessed an incredible amount of social and political upheaval during it’s time. Its name – "The Clink" – derives from the sound of striking metal as the prison's doors were bolted, or the rattling of the chains the prisoners wore.
