Founded in the 13th century, it was rebuilt in 1437 by Michelozzo. The museum offers a perfectly preserved 15th century convent and a super collection of frescoes and painting from Florentine artists.

San Lorenzo Market / Mercato Centrale

Designed by Michelangelo the 16th century chapel is one of two chapels built as an extension of Brunelleschi’s 15th century church; the Basilica of San Lorenzo.

Medici Chapel

Designed by Michelozzo di Bartolomeo on commission from the Medici family, the building is a typical example of Renaissance civil architecture.

Palazzo Medici

The Florence Cathedral is a beautiful example of Renaissance architecture with a neo-gothic façade. Filippo Brunelleschi’s dome is the largest in the world built in brick and mortar. To admire the dome’s interior, and to enjoy a spectacular view of Florence, you can climb the dome’s 463 steps.

Il Duomo Florence Cathedral

Also known as “Giotto’s campanile” the tower is part of the Florence Cathedral and a prime example of gothic architecture. 
It is possible to enter the tower. Climbing the 414 steps leads to a remarkable view of the city.

Bell Tower

Constructed in the 11th century in the Romanesque style. Lorenzo Ghiberti’s sculptures on the bronze doors are remarkable for their early use of perspective. The interior features a mosaic ceiling from the 1200’s and depicts the Last Judgement.

The Baptistery

Considered the oldest building in Florence, the tower was built between the 6th and 7th century. 
Today it is home to the beautiful hotel Brunelleschi.

Pagliazza Tower (“Straw Tower”)

This square has always been the beating heart of Florence. The Roman forum was located here and in the middle ages, it was the city’s commercial hub. In the 20’s, young futurist artists met regularly at the famous café Giubbe Rosse.

Piazza della Repubblica

Built on pre-existing ruins, the church received its current form in the 15th century and was designed by Filippo Brunelleschi. The external façade dates from the 18th century.

The church has a beautiful Renaissance interior and a powerful collection of art that make it worthwhile to step inside.

Church of Santo Spirito

Bought in the late 16th century by Eleonora of Toledo, wife of Grand Duke Cosimo I de’ Medici, it was the official residency of the Medici family. They commissioned a large scale rebuilding of the palace, as well as the famous Boboli gardens.

Pitti Palace

The oldest bridge in Florence, Ponte Vecchio is a thriving bridge full of jewellery stores and art dealers. Look for the padlocks that lovers have chained to the bridge, in order to seal their eternal love.
